Yes! Unlock Anywhere® is a fully cloud managed security solution. To deploy a client a connection to the Unlock Anywhere® cloud service is required. On every client start the boot key is queried from the cloud service. If a specifc client is offline, a boot code requested by smartphone via QR code can be used. Still the smartphone need to connect to the Unlock Anywhere® cloud service. This ensures you 100% control of your Windows devices.

The aim of Unlock Anywhere® is uncompromising multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption enforcement and remote lock. The solution does not eliminate the need for endpoint malware protection like Microsoft Defender.

The Unlock Anywhere® agent unleashes the functionality to unlock the Windows build-in encryption BitLocker by a cloud managed service. Therefore a unique boot key is requested every time a device starts. By default the boot key is queried by LAN or WLAN connection from the Unlock Anywhere® cloud service. This external boot key is the 1st factor of the multi-factor authentication protection built. The 2nd factor is a user-centric authentication e.g., Windows Hello with fingerprint or face recognition.

We avoid storing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in the Unlock Anywhere® cloud service, as the boot key method is device centric and not based on user credentials. In addition to the boot key used for device unlocking the BitLocker recovery key is retrieved from managed clients for client support and encryption recovery.

Almost all modern PC hardware equiped with a TPM 2.0 security chip (or similar technology) is compatible. This include Intel and ADM platforms.

During installation the Unlock Anywhere® agent will check the minimum requirements like the Windows operating system and BitLocker support and notifies the user on any unsatisfied conditions.

You will be able to remove the agent completely. Once removed, the transparent BitLocker encryption will be re-activated.

If your client fails to boot with Unlock Anywhere® you still can use the BitLocker recovery key to boot your system. This BitLocker recovery key will be available in your Microsoft tenant, additionally the recovery key is archived in the Unlock Anywhere® cloud service.
